Dancing at Carnation Plaza – Disneyland
Last Saturday we went to Disneyland – this was a bittersweet event because it was the last night of swing dancing at Carnation Plaza. They’ve had live music and swing dancing there since the late 50’s, with top name acts performing like Louis Armstrong, Gene Krupa, Count Basie and Harry James. Oh, yes, and yours truly – I played at Carnation with my high school band. 🙂
I never really danced at Disneyland – until we moved recently it was just a little too far away to make buying a pass worthwhile – but Chris started dancing there in the late 90’s. It was the first place he saw swing dancing in person, and he started taking lessons because dancing at Disneyland looked like fun. How cool is that?! My first swing dance was in a church basement, and his was at DISNEYLAND!

Looks like a grand time! Too bad it was an "aloha" event, but hey you two looked like you enjoyed every moment. I love your dress and your BLOUSE. So cute!!

oh wow, looks like a great party! Why they stopped the dance (and music?)?
So sad that they are ending the dancing at Carnation Plaza. I had fun the couple times I went while I was loving out there. And cute silhouette! 😉
So sad to see the end of an era, but so cool that you could experience it!
And you both looked great as usual 🙂
Oh, whoops, I forgot to put that part! They're turning the area into a Disney Princess area, because it's right next to the castle. Dancing to live music will continue in Downtown Disney (which is good because it's free, but not good because it's on a portable floor). They say dancing should return to the princess area after construction is complete, but we'll see…
Of course living halfway across the continent I wouldn't have known they did that at Disneyland, how neat but sad it's ending. Great that you at least got to experience it once! 🙂
